Also start of my summer cleanup. Since there is so little traffic compared to the school year this is a good time to clean, rearrange and get everything properly re-spidered before classes resume in the Fall. Saturday, 06/14/2008 increased size of thumbnails throughout site to ease browsing. Decided this was needed while editing the education/coloring_book section. Site completely reloaded. Saturday, 06/14/2008 Added 110 images. Wednesday, 05/28/2008 WPClipper (the viewer/editor) was updated for Linux-based use. Version-2.2 just impliments some interface tweaks, primarily to accommodate smaller screen sizes in portables (Elonex ONE, Asus Eee PC and others at about 800x480 pixels.) Also updated all the WPClipper help pages. New wpclipper script is located, as always, in the Viewer folder. Also, due to complaints of pages being framed in ad-filled sites on some other domains, I have added targets of many links to open as top page (therefore getting rid of the frames.) Thursday, 02/28/2008 WPClipper updated to version 2.0. Adds ability to set startup folder from menu, also able to parse a command line (if you wish to add parameter to a global shortcut as to where the clipart collection is located, for example on a school server -- which is why this feature was requested :) Also added a save button next to the "copy to clipboard" button. This functionality was already in the menu, but the button makes this fact more obvious and certainly a bit quicker and easier for the kids. You can get the new packages for Windows as soon as they are finished uploading from the downloads page. The source code (Python script) and new screenshot are in the Viewer folder. The new release will be version 5.5 of the collection (20,100 images) containing version 2.0 of WPClipper. Tuesday, 02/26/2008 Added 72 images to medical. A bit of other editing to existing images... Wednesday, 02/03/2008 Added 8 page frames, mostly due to fact that I am adding a " Help getting images as full-page backgrounds in documents" page, linked from all the page frame thumbnail pages. The long road to 20k images has finally been travelled and as you can see by the little steps along the way in the changelog below... it has been a long and eye-straining process for me :) I'd like to thank the artists for their submissions (and SHOUT OUT to others that may be intersted!) and thank everyone who has sent me kind words about the collection. It suprises me just how many folks are nice enough to take the time to send me a note. I will continue to expand the collection and slowly reorganize and re-edit images as I go along. From scans of PD books and edited. Last clipart package (v 2.1) update -- Tuesday, 06/20/2006 2.1 is a very large clipart update. The package now does NOT include the viewer/editor, although it is still available separately, and it is still GPL-ed (free.) I did this to avoid uploading several 400+ MB packages. 2.0 adds several hundred images and update to viewer/editor that incorporates a "WPClipart online" link that should open user's default browser. I customized use of the wxWindows webbrowser componant for use by Firefox (if the user has that installed) -- I hope this works for everyone. Version 1.9 corrects an unzipping problem under Windows -- seems I overlooked filename case insesitivity under Win, and users had to choose to overwrite same filename when expanding the download. This could cause confusion and loss of a few of the images. (Actually, there were 9 of them.)
